Born in Naples in 1953.
Lives and works in Rome.

Gregorio Botta is a visual artist who works with many natural elements or materials connected to the ancient roots of human history, such as wax, water, iron, fire, blood, leaves, glass, lead, alabaster, stones, earths and oxides, rice paper, and sound. His research constantly questions the mystery of time and the visibility of the world: his works, often veritable installations, encompass a fluid and elusive vision that seeks to create a space of silence and contemplation.
An author and essayist, he has published “Pollock e Rothko, il gesto e il respiro” for Einaudi and “Paul Klee, genio e regolatezza” for Laterza.
