In Over Time an alarming reference to a future without any snow acts as a counterpoint to a feeling of empathy for a fragile, silent universe.
In the first video, the snowologist Michele Freppaz, engaged on a series of scientific analyses on the snow covering Monte Rosa, near the Angelo Mosso Institute, shines a new light on the figure of the scientist – emotionally involved and sensitive to sensorial and experiential aspects. The production processes of snow spray seen in the second video bear witness to a disturbing scenario of a future in which memories, sensations and emotions linked to snowy landscapes or Christmas scenes will only be possible if created artificially. In the last video, the shot of a human figure walking impassively through a snowy wood raises questions for us about the concept of co-existence.
The way the figure advances generates feelings of indifference, bewilderment and resignation, while he himself seems insensitive to the surrounding beauty and magic.
