Thorsten Kirchhoff

Born in Copenhagen in 1960.
Lives and works in Rome.

Thorsten Kirchhoff is a multidisciplinary artist who explores the relationship between image and narrative through installations, sculptures, and videos. His work examines the dynamics between reality and fiction, between what is visible and what is hidden, creating environments that invite the viewer to reflect on the interactions between space, object, and perception. Kirchhoff often focuses on the symbolic and metaphorical potential of everyday objects, transforming them into new visual and conceptual contexts, revealing unexpected narratives.

His solo exhibitions include: Galleria Alberto Peola, Turin (2016, 2009, 2006, 2003, 2001, 1998); La Quadriennale di Roma (2014); Fondazione Merz, Turin (2008); Fondazione Bevilacqua La Masa, Venice (2001); Galleria Gian Enzo Sperone, Rome (2000, 1994). He has participated in important group exhibitions, including: Museo Nazionale del Cinema, Turin (2024); CAP — Centro Arti Plastiche, Carrara (2017); Fondazione Benetton Studi Ricerche, Treviso (2014); Palazzo Barberini, Rome (2009); Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, Turin (2005); Palazzo delle Esposizioni, Rome (2000).
