Marguerite Kahrl is a visual artist who develops strategies for resilient activism, using participatory and onsite contexts to reimagine new ways of connecting with our habitats. Her interdisciplinary research is based on permaculture, which mimics the resilience and balance of natural ecosystems. Kahrl’s sculptural and relational objects animate conversations about changing perspectives, shaping places, and new forms of being. Kahrl is an advisor and co-founder of Permaculture for Refugees. She lectures widely, including at the event Meet, Share, Inspire: International Conference of Good Practices on Refugee Protection in Ankara, Turkey (2019) and at the Museum of Finnish Architecture for the Venice Biennale of Architecture (2016). Kahrl has been granted awards and residencies, including a Diploma of Merit for International Permaculture Innovators, India (2017) and the TELL_US Project, Ecovillaggio Torri Superiore, Ventimiglia (2021).
