Eva Frapiccini

Born in Recanati (MC — Italy) in 1978.
Lives and works in Turin.

 

Eva Frapiccini is Professor at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera and NABA in Milan. Her research investigates the perception of time and forms of sharing to understand the processes behind socio-political imbalances through an interdisciplinary approach. The artist uses photography, video, audio installations, participatory projects, and often collaborates with designers, musicians, and performers.
After university studies at DAMS in Bologna and IED in Turin, Frapiccini earned a practice-led PhD at the School of Fine Art, History of Art & Cultural Studies at the University of Leeds, UK, where she lived between 2015 and 2019. She won the 1st and 12th editions of the Italian Council for Il Pensiero che non diventa Azione avvelena l’Anima, exhibited during Manifesta 12 Palermo, and for the sound installation Dreamscape at the 1st edition of the Biennale Son in Switzerland.

    Her solo exhibitions include: MADRE, Naples (2023); Galleria Peola Simondi, Turin (2023); Palazzo Ducale, Genoa (2022); MA*GA, Gallarate (2017); BOZAR Palais des Beaux Arts, Brussels (2016). Group exhibitions she participated in include: MAXXI, Rome (2020); Triennale di Milano (2016); Castello di Rivoli Museo d'Arte Contemporanea, Rivoli (TO) (2014); FACT, Liverpool (2014); Nederlands Fotomuseum, Rotterdam (2011); Italian Pavilion at the Venice Architecture Biennale, Venice (2010); Maison de la Photographie, Paris (2006); Martin Gropius Bau Museum, Berlin (2006); Casino Luxembourg, Luxembourg (2006); House of Photography, Moscow (2007).
    Her works are part of prestigious permanent collections, including: Castello di Rivoli Museo d'Arte Contemporanea, Rivoli — TO; GAM, Turin; Fondazione Fotografia, Modena; Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, Turin; Musei Civici, Monza; MAXXI, Rome.
